With SNAP benefit uncertainty and growing need in the area, a Youngstown tutoring center calls for help donating food items to make sure no student goes hungry.
In a news release, Homework Heroes' call to action is to bring food donations to the Youngstown City School District (YCSD) Warehouse to help young scholars have meals to take home.
The organization suggests the following items for donation:
- Ready-to-eat soups (pull tab)
- Fruit cups
- Canned chili-beef stew (pull tab)
- Applesauce cups
- Tuna or chicken salad kits
- Mac-and-cheese microwavable cups
- Trail mix
- Instant noodles/Ramen cups
- Pretzels
- Shelf-stable pasta meals
- Peanut butter and jelly packs
- Granola and protein bars
- Apples, oranges and dried fruit
- Cereal cups
- Shelf-stable milk
- 100% juice boxes
- Cheese sticks
- Napkins, water and bottles

The YCSD Warehouse is located at 1500 Teamster Drive in Youngstown.
