SOUTHINGTON, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Warren Post announced its selections for the dispatcher and trooper of 2025.

Shelly Higgins has been selected for the 2025 OSHP Telecommunications Award at the Warren Post.

According to the release, Higgins joined the patrol in 2003 and has served at the Ashtabula, Ravenna and Warren Post dispatch centers.

Throughout her career, she has been awarded "Dispatcher of the Year" eight times. She was also selected as the District Dispatcher of the Year twice, once in 2008 and once again in 2018.

In addition to her work with OSHP, she has also served as a firefighter and advanced EMT for ten years beforehand.

She is now in contention for the District and State Telecommunications Award, which will be announced at a later date.

The Warren Post also selected its pick for the 2025 Trooper of the Year, named in the release as Trooper Adam Smith.

Trooper Smith joined the OSHP in 2023 and was assigned to the Warren Post.

He is originally from North Jackson and graduated from Jackson-Milton High School in 2016.

Smith also attended Ohio University and Youngstown State University. He now lives in Brookfield with his four-year-old daughter.

He is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award, which will be announced at a later date.
