9th Annual Boo Squad Fund helps feed families in Boardman

The Boo Squad Fund, a part of the Anthony Spano Foundation, spent their Sunday morning at Rulli Brothers in Boardman helping to make sure families have Thanksgiving meals.
The meals were distributed in a drive-through fashion, with recipients waiting in line to get a meal delivered to their car window.
The Boo Squad is a volunteer group of kids seven years and older, with the goal of the group to teach children about volunteerism, teamwork and compassion, a news release states.
"Even if you can't donate a meal, maybe you can bring a can of green beans, maybe you could help deliver a meal," Heather Hrina Medvec, founder and director of the mission, said.
Medvec also said that local school districts also help provide her with names of families that would benefit from a meal, allowing her and the squad to help more than can come to events.
As a part of this year's event, the Boo Squad fed over 500 families and had over 50 kids volunteering from four different counties.
According to their website, The Boo Squad has volunteered or donated to many organizations across the Mahoning Valley, including Akron Children’s Hospital, The Beatitude House, The Golden String, The Paisley House, Park Vista, Making Kids Count, Go Baby Go, The Rescue Mission, The Community Kitchen and local families.
