BRACEVILLE TWP., Ohio - Trumbull County 911 dispatch received several calls on Friday night about an older white male walking along Route 534 in Braceville Township and stopping cars while holding a pistol.

One caller reported that the man threatened to shoot himself and urged others to call 911 because he was about to do it. Another caller mentioned seeing him sitting by the side of the road with the gun pointed at his head.

When police arrived, they allegedly found the man on the ground, and shortly afterward, shots were fired.

The manager of a Doll Lumber Company, Eric Doll, mentioned that the shooting took place right in front of the company's property.

"I started pulling out and saw about six sheriff cars lined up, so I stopped. And that's when we heard some gunshots and saw a bunch of people running around and a few ambulances and just a bunch of commotion," Doll said.

A close friend of the suspect, Brenda Krembrenk, revealed that the suspect had sent her text messages indicating he was ready to see the "other side." She added that the suspect had recently lost his daughter to a drug overdose.

"He was a good man. He was just broken. He couldn't take not having his daughter anymore. And it just ate at him. Those officers did what they had to do, please go home and sleep at night because it wasn't your fault," Krembrenk said.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is still investigating the incident, but call logs suggest that the fatal shot may have been self-inflicted.
