Boardman Police arrest suspect for allegedly shoplifting goods worth $8K

BOARDMAN Police arrested a 58-year-old Struthers man wanted on multiple felony and misdemeanor theft warrants Monday afternoon related to a series of shoplifting incidents that police estimate total $8,275 in stolen merchandise.
Alvin Patrick Traylor, who lists his address as Wilson St. in Struthers, was taken into custody outside a Walmart on Doral Drive.
Boardman Police Department officers responded to the location for a call about a man with active warrants. Officers found Traylor near the main entrance, and he cooperated with commands to get on the ground.
Police reports charge Traylor with four felony counts of theft and two misdemeanor counts of theft. The warrants are connected to multiple shoplifting incidents that occurred between July and October, primarily at retail locations on Market Street and Boardman-Poland Road.
Reports indicate Traylor often worked with a female co-suspect during the alleged thefts.
The Boardman Police reports detail merchandise taken in three of the incidents:
- Seventeen pairs of designer glasses frames, including Ray-Ban brand, valued at $6,375.
- Clothing items, valued at $400.
- At least four pairs of additional glasses frames, valued at $1,500.
While being processed, Traylor requested medical attention for chest pain and shortness of breath. He was taken to Mercy Health Youngstown for evaluation.
Police reports state that Traylor will be moved to the Mahoning County Jail once he is released from the hospital.
