Kimberly-Clark seeks tax break to build $150M distribution center in Trumbull County

HOWLAND Kimberly-Clark, the company building a million-square-foot manufacturing plant in Howland, is asking Trumbull County to create an enterprise zone that would pave the way for what planners say would be a state-of-the-art regional distribution facility on the same property that would add another 65 jobs.
Nicholas Coggins, Trumbull County Assistant Planning Director and Director of Economic Development, tells 21 News that the manufacturer of personal care and hygiene products is considering building a 592,000 square foot regional distribution center at the site.
Coggins says that in addition to processing items from the sixteen production lines manufactured at the building under construction, the center would also receive products from other Kimberly-Clark facilities and ship them to retailers.
Kimberly-Clark is asking the county commissioners to approve a ten-year, 60% property tax abatement to make way for the additional $150 million investment.
Back in May, Kimberly-Clark announced plans to build an $800 million plant employing nearly 500 workers to manufacture personal care products that include baby & child care and adult & feminine care.
The company says Warren is in geographic proximity to roughly 117 million consumers and will serve as a strategic hub for the Northeast and Midwest regions.
County Commissioners are expected to consider the tax abatement at Wednesday morning's regular meeting.
