TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - On Saturday The Warren Family Mission hosted an emergency food giveaway at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.

The event was intended to help families put extra food on the table for the second year in a row.

"We had over 62,000 pounds of food, and we prepared for over 1,000 families. We had people line up as early as 2:30 in the morning to wait in line to get food," Dominic Mararri, Director of Public Relations for the Warren Family Mission, said.

With assistance from the Second Harvest Food Bank and volunteers from the Safe Harbor Recovery Center, they made a significant impact on families in need for the upcoming holiday.

"It puts a lot of smiles on people's face, and they just give us a thumbs up, and they say, 'Look, this is going to make a big difference for my family'. What else can you ask for," Mike Iberis, Executive Director for the Second Harvest Food Bank said.

People patiently waited for an opportunity to pick up extra groceries during the event.

"It just shows that people were in need of food and rebounding from SNAP benefits being turned off. Some people received benefits. Some people didn't," Mararri said.
