Thanksgiving weekend is on the horizon and downtown Youngstown is jam-packed with fun, festive and even spooky events throughout the long weekend.

Guests can visit the "Memories of Christmas Past" exhibit at the 17th Annual Arms Family Museum on Wick Avenue. The exhibit opened on November 15 and will remain open until December 31. You can get more details here.

Fans of local sports can catch a game at either Youngstown State University or the Covelli Centre on Friday, November 28.

The YSU men's basketball team will take on the Chicago State Cougars at 3 p.m. in the Zidian Family Arena at the Beeghly Center on YSU's campus, and the Youngstown Phantoms hockey team will take on the Tri-City Storm at 7:05 p.m. at the Covelli Centre.

If you can't make the Friday Phantoms game, the Phantoms will take on the Storm again Saturday, November 29 at 6:05 p.m. Saturday's game will be the annual "Pucks & Paws" game.

If you're still in a spooky mood from Halloween, the creators of Nightmare in Niles are bringing the nightmare to Penguin City Brewing all weekend long with the first-ever "Holiday Haunt" from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

The Pollock Ballroom will transform into a twisted maze with eerie decor and sinister surprises that will blend Halloween scares with Christmas cheer. There will also be spooky vendors and an appearance from Krampus.

There will also be a kid-friendly version on Sunday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with no scare actors.

If you'd rather have nothing but Christmas cheer, Stambaugh Auditorium will be hosting the 52nd Annual Tuba Christmas concert along with a holiday craft show on Sunday, November 30.

The craft show will kick off at 11 a.m. and the concert will kick off at 4 p.m. with doors opening at 3:30.

Finally, The Butler Institute of American Art will be participating in Museum Store Sunday with specials in its shop from noon to 4 p.m. Author Jaqueline Marino will also make an appearance at 1 p.m. to speak about her books "Car Bombs to Cookie Tables," followed by a book signing.
