Widespread snow showers and reduced speed limits impacted travel across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys as a winter storm moved through the region.

The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories calling for total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches across Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Forecasters predict the hazardous conditions will reduce visibility and create slippery roads throughout the Tuesday morning commute.

Several traffic accidents in the region are currently under investigation.

In Pennsylvania, the Department of Transportation has now restored temporarily reduced speed limits to 45 mph on portions of Interstate 79 and Interstate 80.

In Trumbull County, the National Weather Service extended the advisory until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Forecasters expect the morning system to be followed by lake effect snow showers into the afternoon.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission advised motorists to slow down and adjust speeds based on driving conditions. Travelers can check real-time traffic updates online at OHGO.com.
