Trial begins Tuesday for man accused in 2023 Youngstown homicide

YOUNGSTOWN Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a man accused of shooting a 52-year-old man to death inside a city home two years ago.
Mickele Glenn, 36, faces charges of murder and aggravated burglary in connection with the death of Edward Lewis.
The case dates back to Nov. 2, 2023, when Youngstown police were called to a home on the 50 block of Oneta Street regarding a report of a body. Officers found Lewis dead in a hallway near a bathroom. The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office determined Lewis suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators found several spent shell casings near the body, but no arrests were made immediately following the discovery.
A Mahoning County grand jury secretly indicted Glenn in April 2025, nearly 18 months after the shooting. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service the following day.
Court records indicate the trial has faced several delays since Glenn’s arraignment in April. The trial was previously scheduled to begin in June, September, October, and November before the current date was set.
Filings show the court issued a material witness warrant in September and October to secure testimony for the upcoming proceedings. On Nov. 17, Judge D’Apolito issued an order to house both the defendant and a witness at the Mahoning County Justice Center ahead of the trial.
Subpoenas were issued for witnesses to appear.
Glenn remains held in the Mahoning County jail.
