OVI checkpoint planned in Boardman on Friday night
The checkpoint will be in place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on December 6 in the area of 1032 Boardman Canfield Road in Boardman.

CANFIELD - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint in Boardman on Friday, December 5.
The checkpoint will be in place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on December 6 in the area of 1032 Boardman Canfield Road in Boardman.
The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols by various law enforcement agencies throughout Mahoning County to intercept and deter impaired drivers on the road through saturation patrols.
The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grants.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified of sobriety checkpoints before they happen to avoid violating protections against illegal searches and seizures.
However, the ruling did not specify what constitutes an adequate notification.
