The Mahoning Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has pledged a $10,000 donation to the Veteran Haven Facility, the chapter stated in a news release.

The Veterans Haven Facility, a newly developed shelter for homeless veterans scheduled to open in 2026, will receive the donation during a Dec. 18 event in Canfield.

"Supporting our veterans is at the heart of everything we do," Marty Campana, chair of the annual DAR Veterans Golf Classic, stated. "We are honored to contribute to Veterans Haven and help provide the dignity, comfort, and hope our local heroes deserve. This new facility represents a fresh start for so many, and we're proud to play a role in building it."

The donation will support the "Adopt-a-Bedroom" and "Adopt-the-Pantry" initiatives, which provide essential funding to furnish living spaces and stock food resources for veterans in need. The Mahoning chapter selected Veterans Haven as part of its ongoing mission to support U.S. veterans and honor their service and sacrifice.

The Mahoning Chapter of the NSDAR is based in Youngstown and consists of volunteer women and their dedication to historic preservation and education. Membership is open to women who can trace their lineage to a patriot of the American Revolutionary War. More information can be found on their website.
