SOUTH NEW CASTLE - Investigators are looking for what caused a deadly fire in Lawrence County early Thursday.

Dispatchers got a call just after 6 a.m. reporting a fire at a small, one-story home on the 100 block of Good Avenue in South New Castle Borough.

The first firefighter to arrive reported flames and smoke coming from the house.

One man who got out suffered burns on his feet.

A woman who was still inside the home called dispatchers, saying she was unable to escape through a window.

Firefighters made their way through the smoky interior of the home. However, efforts to save the woman’s life were not successful.

The coroner, who was called to the scene, has not yet released the name of the victim.
