Owner stunned to see his Bears Den property listed on Zillow

YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown police are investigating a report of property fraud after a Florida man discovered his vacant land on the city’s West Side was listed for sale without his knowledge.
The property owner filed a report regarding a parcel of land he owns near Mill Creek Park along Bears Den Road between Old Furnace and Canfield Roads. He told officers he discovered the lot was listed for sale on the real estate website Zillow on Dec. 3.
According to Mahoning County Auditor records, the 2.2-acre parcel was purchased by the current owners in June 2023 for $24,500. The county currently lists the total appraised value of the land at $22,500.
The owner told police he contacted the realtor to ask about the unauthorized listing. The listing agent reportedly stated that someone had provided the owner's personal information and a deed to place the land on the market.
The victim, who resides in Fort Myers, Florida, informed police he never offered the property for sale and plans to build a house on the site in the future. The matter has been referred to the department’s detective division.
