Hot cocoa and hiking may not seem like an obvious pair, but the Youngstown Hiking Group would beg to differ after hosting a "Hot Cocoa Hike" on Sunday at Mill Creek Park.

Youngstown Hiking Group, established by Jerry Martinelli, focuses on bringing people together to exercise in an environment throughout all seasons of the year.

"We organize different hikes with different scenes and different parts of the park," Gina Kearns of the Youngstown Hiking Group said. "I've gotten to know so many different parts of the park that I didn't even know existed, little nooks and crannies, I've been here my whole life and never knew they were there."

Kearns said that the group members host their own hikes year-round, with it being difficult to get the entire group together at once.

Apart from keeping warm with hot cocoa on a brisk Sunday afternoon, the group also collected donations of blankets and towels to go to local animal shelters.

The group also stated that they reached over 1,000 Facebook group members hiking around the area.
