Warren company recalls mixed nuts due to salmonella risk

WARREN A Warren-based food manufacturer has issued a recall for specific packages of unsalted mixed nuts sold at Wegmans Food Markets across the East Coast due to potential salmonella contamination.
Mellace Family Brands California, Inc., headquartered in Warren, announced the recall for 34-ounce tubs and 11.5-ounce bags of Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted.
According to the company, the issue was discovered after a supplier found a lot of raw pistachios tested positive for salmonella during routine screening. Those pistachios were subsequently used in the production of the mixed nut products.
