Watchdog Follow-up: More complaints against local shed builder with pending lawsuit
TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - A Trumbull County shed builder that was sued by the Ohio Attorney General in 2024 is facing continued concerns from customers who said they paid thousands of dollars and received nothing within the time they were promised.
Timber Creek Structures, operated by Timothy Dotson of Girard, remains under a civil lawsuit alleging unfair and deceptive business practices that violate Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act.
The state accuses the company of accepting money for new sheds, giving inaccurate delivery dates and refusing timely refunds when orders were delayed.
Despite the lawsuit still moving forward in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, the business continues to accept new orders.
The Attorney General's website now shows 594 complaints linked to Timber Creek Structures and its owner, Timothy Dotson.
Masury resident Ken Broadrick said he's one of them.
"We picked up the color, the dynamics of the shed, agreed on everything, paid cash with a check, was told three to eight weeks later," he said, "Eight weeks came and I called and I was told that 'You'll get your shed when you get it.'"
He said that months have gone by without the shed, materials, a refund or a returned call.
Broadrick said he's filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau.
"I've touched base with them weekly. I've emailed them. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau," he added, "The worst part is being out all that money and falling behind in business assets, and being able to do things and still have no shed."
21 News contacted owner Tim Dotson on Tuesday.
Dotson pointed to staffing shortages, and records show complaints have been resolved over time.
After 21 News contacted Dotson, Broadrick said he then received a call Tuesday afternoon from Timber Creek Structures, stating his shed is now scheduled to arrive in the coming days.
Timber Creek Structures told 21 News it's now only accepting payment in full upon delivery to prevent future issues.
