Warren man pleads guilty to hit-skip crash that killed former Newton Falls teacher

WARREN - A Warren man pled guilty on Wednesday to a hit-skip crash that claimed the life of a retired Newton Falls teacher.
According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 63-year-old Wayne Keeley pled guilty to third-degree felony charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident, as well as a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter.
The charges stem from a deadly crash in October of 2025 when Keeley veered off the road and drove through the backyard of a home on Indiana Avenue in Niles. Keeley struck vehicles parked in the driveway, as well as 67-year-old Brenda Hibbard, a retired Newton Falls teacher.
Hibbard died of her injuries in the hospital.
Keeley was found a day later in a parking lot in Niles. He admitted to police that he fell asleep at the wheel on his way home from work and panicked after the crash.
No sentencing date has been set for Keeley at this time.
