Newton Falls Planning & Zoning Commission approves variants for proposed Circle K

Members of the Village of Newton Falls Planning and Zoning Commission met on Wednesday, December 10, to discuss variants for a proposed Circle K that would take the place of a former pharmacy in the village.
According to Newton Falls Ward 2 Councilman Brian Axiotis, commission members considered variants for a Circle K that would be built on the current site of a Rite Aid, located at 325 West Broad Street, Newton Falls.
Axiotis told 21 News that the process to bring variant requests to the Planning and Zoning Commission begins with the developer, in this case Circle K, meeting with the village's Planning and Zoning Department to determine if the proposed building would meet current code requirements.
If requirements are not met, the developer can propose variants to the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider their passage or denial that would allow the building to be built.
Variants presented at Wednesday's meeting were approved by the Commission.
As a result, Axiotis predicts that Circle K would move on to the permitting process with the county to demolish the Rite Aid building located at 325 West Broad Street and build a Circle K.
Axiotis says that the purpose of the meeting is not only to discuss the variants, but also to allow neighboring businesses to share thoughts and comments on the proposed change to the property next door.
