Boardman Township swore in its newest trustee position on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Matt Gambrel, Boardman Township Trustee-Elect, received 3,870 votes during the November 4 general election period, winning 29.5% of the total votes in that specific race.

Gambrel will join Boardman Township Trustees Steve Yacavone and Larry Moliterno on January 1, 2026, when Gambrel officially takes office.

He told 21 News that he will do his best to support the community that helped him reach this point.

"It's a pretty emotional experience. We've got the room packed with friends and family. There's not a person in this room whom I don't know very well. It's nice to see them come out and support me, and I'm not [going to] let them down. They put their trust in me. They got me here, and I'm going to do right by them," said Gambrel.

Gambrel says that for the next few weeks before he takes office, he will be sitting in on meetings to see how they function.
