Niles Police, Fire Departments raise money for families through friendly competition

Members of the Niles Police Department and the Niles Fire Department met at Buffalo Wild Wings, located at 950 Great East Plaza in Niles, for a friendly competition of who could raise more money in tips, all to benefit in-need families in the Niles City School District.
According to a Facebook post outlining the event, all of the tip money raised during the celebrity bartending event at Bufallo Wild Wings would be used to help families in need this holiday season.
Zack Baker-Stowe, General Manager of the Niles Buffalo Wild Wings, told 21 News that during the 2024 fundraiser, about $3,000 was brought in. This year, they raised their goal to $4,000.
Ashleigh Corbett, Assistant General Manager of the store, shared a few examples of what the funds would go towards.
"We buy presents, gift cards and food items for in-need families in Niles City School District," said Corbett.
Corbett continued, "Last year, this store helped thirteen [families]. So, if we're bumping up the goal, we should be able to help about sixteen," said Corbett.
Corbett says that this fundraiser has been going on for about 30 years.
