WARREN, Ohio - Classes are canceled for a second consecutive day at Warren G. Harding High School as crews continue to address an electrical issue at the building.

Superintendent Steve Chiaro notified families that the power outage has not yet been resolved, resulting in the cancellation of classes for students in grades 9-12 and the high school’s preschool program for Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025. Chiaro stated that the situation is beyond the district's control but noted that contracted electricians and representatives from Ohio Edison are working to restore power.

Chiaro says power is still out as of 1 p.m. and crews are actively working to reintegrate power into the building. Chiaro says he expects the school to have power again by the end of the day, but if that does not happen, the school will consider using a generator until the issue is fixed.

While students are excused, all staff members are required to report to work as scheduled. District officials will provide further guidance later in the morning or early afternoon regarding whether after-school activities will take place.

The electrical problems began earlier in the week, impacting district operations on Tuesday when the Board of Education moved its meeting to the administration building. The ongoing outage subsequently forced the closure of the high school on Wednesday.
