BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Boardman police officers released reports Thursday on four separate retail theft investigations involving more than $2,400 in combined merchandise, including accusations against a store employee and a pair of suspects allegedly working together.

In the largest single loss reported, loss prevention personnel at the Target on Boardman-Canfield Road told police a woman stole $1,063.31 in merchandise on Nov. 17. The report states the woman "skip-scanned" inexpensive items like Christmas decorations before pushing a cart full of unpaid goods past the points of sale and fleeing in a red Chevrolet SUV.

Staff at the same Target location also filed a report regarding a male suspect they believe aids the female suspect in committing thefts. On Dec. 5, the man allegedly attempted to steal children's clothing and batteries valued at $215.05 but threw the items on the floor and fled when confronted by employees.

Police also responded to the Walmart on Doral Drive, where a loss prevention manager accused a terminated employee of stealing $862.88 worth of items between Nov. 12 and Nov. 26. The report alleges the woman used various methods to take merchandise, including concealing an Apple Watch and AirPods in her vest and voiding transactions for family members at her register while still bagging the items.

In a separate incident reported at Dick's Sporting Goods on Doral Drive, a manager told officers a man stole $280 in merchandise, including a North Face coat. The suspect allegedly took the items into a fitting room to remove the sales tags before leaving the business.
