It was a blustery and cold Thursday across the Valley with wind chills mainly in the teens and some scattered snow showers. Thankfully, Friday will be a little more hospitable with less wind and some intervals of sunshine. Afternoon temperatures will rise to around 30 degrees.

A weak weather disturbance can bring a few snow flurries back to the region late Friday night into Saturday morning, but a more potent system is likely to track our way by the end of the afternoon Saturday. Snow will fall throughout the late afternoon and evening, with impacts likely on area roads. Snow accumulations may be highest in areas around and south of Route 30 in Columbiana County.

In the wake of Saturday's "clipper" system, lake-effect snow will take over on Sunday as a fresh batch of arctic air settles over the Great Lakes.  Additional accumulations are a good bet, especially in the traditionally-favored areas. Gusty winds should create some blowing and drifting snow, along with wind chills in the single digits.

Monday will also be frigid, but the rest of next week should not be as cold and wintry.
