Mahoning Valley community services organization receives Ohio grant funding

An Ohio representative announced $89,021.74 in human trafficking grants from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Criminal Justice Services on Thursday to a Mahoning Valley based organization.
State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) announced that the grants will be going toward COMPASS Family and Community Services, a not-for-profit organization committed to providing comprehensive services to people of all ages.
"This grant is so important for the survivors of human trafficking. I am proud of the work COMPASS is doing, and I think this grant will go a long way in how COMPASS can help our community and help survivors reestablish their lives," McNally stated.
$2 million was granted throughout the state, awarding 33 nonprofits in 16 different counties. These nonprofits serve the needs of human trafficking survivors with funded services that include victim advocacy, mental health services, education and employment support, as well as shelter and housing.
COMPASS Family and Community Services serves the people of Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Their core service areas are counseling, drug and alcohol addiction, residential services, workforce development, guardianship for seniors, sexual assault and Domestic Violence.
