LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Foxconn Technology USA Corp. has announced plans to open a manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky, with a $173 million investment expected to create 180 jobs.

Gov. Andy Beshear said the project will be the first U.S. manufacturing operation for the subsidiary of the Taiwan-based technology giant. The new facility will use artificial intelligence and other digital technologies to produce electronics.

“Kentucky’s long, successful history of working with international companies has led to billions in economic investment and countless job opportunities over the years,” Beshear said.

The Louisville plant is scheduled to begin operations in the third quarter of 2026. The company said the facility will feature a modern production system incorporating automation and internet-connected data sharing.

While the announcement focuses on the company’s expansion in Kentucky, Foxconn has maintained a significant, shifting presence in the Mahoning Valley.

Foxconn’s parent company, Hon Hai Technology Group, purchased the former General Motors assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, in 2022. The company initially planned to use the massive facility to manufacture electric vehicles. However, following the bankruptcy of partners Lordstown Motors and Fisker Inc., and the recent end of production for the Monarch electric tractor, Foxconn has adjusted its strategy in the region.

In August 2025, Foxconn sold the Lordstown plant to a SoftBank affiliate for $375 million but announced it would continue to occupy the site. The company plans to pivot the Lordstown facility toward producing hardware for artificial intelligence data centers as part of a partnership known as the Stargate project.

To support the new Louisville project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement. The deal could provide Foxconn with up to $3.4 million in tax incentives if the company meets hiring and investment targets.

The agreement requires the company to maintain 180 full-time jobs for Kentucky residents over 10 years, paying an average hourly wage of $38.61, including benefits.

Foxconn Technology USA Corp. is a subsidiary of Foxconn Technology Co. Ltd.; a global manufacturer of electronics and computer parts headquartered in Taiwan.
