New farmers market coming to downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - Thrive Mahoning Valley has announced that a new farmers market is coming to downtown Youngstown next year.
The Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market is set to launch on Thursday, February 12 at the Main Library in Youngstown on Wick Avenue from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The market will also have children's activities from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The market will offer fresh, local produce and locally made products year-round. The market will take place inside the library during the winter and outside in the library's parking lot during the warmer months.
"Our community deserves year-round opportunities to purchase fresh foods, and this indoor market will help bridge the gap during the colder months while supporting the farmers and small businesses who make our region unique," said the farmers market's lead organizer Vicki Vicars.
Vicars added that with Youngstown State University's campus right across the street, students have a great opportunity to shop for local produce.
The market is free and open to the public. Those interested in becoming a vendor at the market can apply by clicking here.
