Kids Crew of the Mahoning Valley raise money for Akron Children's Hospital

The Kids Crew of the Mahoning Valley met at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center, located at 7440 South Avenue in Boardman, on Friday to raise money for Akron Children's Hospital.
Linda Eisenbraun, a member of the Planning Committee and Treasurer for The Kids Crew of the Mahoning Valley, spoke to 21 News during the event, saying that the group picks a project to focus on at the hospital each year.
"Last year, it was sports medicine. This year, it's the 'Food Farmacy.' It's one of their new programs, and it's to supply food and hygiene items to families in need," said Eisenbraun.
The Food Farmacy, according to the Akron Children's website, was established to provide those in need of food at the hospital with nutritious food. Eligible patients are referred to the Farmacy through their provider or hospital staff.
During the 2024 event, Eisenbraun says that The Kids Crew was able to raise about $25,000 for the sports medicine program, and they hope to meet the same goal or exceed it this year.
"We have fabulous, generous sponsors and donors. We have baskets that people have donated to us, funds that they have donated," said Eisenbraun.
One of the special items featured during the silent auction at the event was a guitar signed by Taylor Swift.
Additionally, other fundraising items included baked goods, other raffle baskets and wine.
