Our next bout for impactful snow has arrived.

A clipper system will move in from the west, bringing fluffy snow and the potential for some areas' highest totals so far this year. The system snow will arrive during the early to mid-afternoon hours, becoming area-wide by around 4 PM. The steady snow will continue through dinnertime, where it will be at its heaviest. It will begin to taper from west to east around midnight.

We think that the system will drop at least 2 inches for all. Snow totals will be greater the further south you are, with the highest totals coming around and south of Route 30.

Lake-effect snow will drop on the backside come Sunday. This snow will start back up in the morning as widespread light snow, then begin to band up and move east during the evening hours. Accumulations from this event will be primarily north of Interstate 80, though we expect almost everyone to get snowflakes. Northern Trumbull and Mercer counties could receive up to 4 inches of additional accumulation from this event. It will also be bitterly cold, with wind chills below zero as you wake up. High temperatures will only be in the upper tens.

Dry weather will win over the day on Monday as a third clipper system will miss us from the North. Arctic air will still be in place, however, as highs will be in the low 20s.

Moderating air will work in our area beginning on Tuesday. Highs will be around 30, still below average, under dry conditions.

We will continue to warm up through mid-week – highs on Thursday could reach into the 50s for some, though we are currently expecting there to be rain in addition that day. This could come as a frontal passage, dropping temperatures overnight into Friday.
