Nine-foot menorah lights up JCC in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation has a nine-foot menorah on display in front of the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Youngstown as of sundown on Dec. 14 at the start of Hanukkah.
Hanukkah (or Chanukah) is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime "festival of lights," celebrated with a nightly hanukkiah lighting, special prayers, and fried foods. A nine-branched menorah, also known as a hanukkiah, is lit on Hanukkah. One candle, the Shamas, is used to light the others.
The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation is the umbrella organization for several agencies, including Senior Living by Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and Jewish Family & Community Services.
The Federation works to promote the welfare of the Jewish people, locally, nationally, and overseas. More information can be found on the Federation's website.
JCC of Youngstown is located at 505 Gypsy Lane.
