Snow accumulations of several inches were common during the weekend across the area; first from Saturday's "clipper" system and then lake-effect on Sunday. Once snow showers wind down overnight, we don't expect many problems with snow again anytime real soon. Monday will still be a very cold day with wind chills holding in the single digits and air temperatures no higher than the upper teens. A weak weather disturbance might produce some midday snow flurries in areas north of I-80.

Tuesday will get off to a cold start, but the afternoon looks more hospitable with a mix of sun and clouds. The warming trend is set to continue Wednesday into Thursday. Speaking of Thursday, a potent cold front will approach from the west and will bring a good chance for rain by late afternoon and evening. The air mass change behind the front could lead to a freeze up of wet surfaces late Thursday night and early Friday. The colder air will be accompanied by a chance for flurries and snow showers Friday, mainly early on.

A generally milder-than-average pattern should remain in place during the leadup to Christmas.
