Another frigid day will start off our work week, but improving temperatures are on the way.

Other than a few passing flurries north of Interstate 80 this afternoon, Monday will turn quiet, with a good deal of cloud cover. The day will remain very cold as high temperatures only make it to the upper teens with wind chills in the single digits all day.

The sky will clear overnight into Tuesday morning, allowing temperatures to fall to the single digits for a third straight morning. Winds will become calm, though, so don't expect it to feel any colder than the air temperature as you make your way out the door.

Tuesday's temperatures won't be as harsh, but will remain slightly below freezing with some sunshine throughout the day. Wednesday will mark the first above-average high temperature of December, with high temperatures rising to the low 40s.

Thursday will turn breezy and even warmer, with high temperatures rising to the upper 40,s with showers holding off until later in the day. Showers look likely overnight into Friday morning with a switchover to light snow Friday morning.

This weekend is trending quiet with high temperatures slightly above the average. With 10 days to go until Christmas Day, the forecasting is trending not as dry with temperatures trending above the average.
