Youngstown native and Cardinal Mooney graduate Bob Stoops announced his retirement from coaching Monday.

Stoops is retiring as head coach of the United Football League's Dallas Renegades.

Stoops spent four years leading the Renegades and won an XFL championship in 2023.

He coached at the University of Oklahoma for 18 seasons and led the Sooners to a national championship and 10 Big 12 titles.

Stoops went 191-48 during his time with Oklahoma.

On a social media post by the Dallas Renegades, Stoops said, "After much thought and reflection, I've made the decision to retire from coaching and step away from the game of football."
