EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio - The Hot Dog Shoppe in East Liverpool, previously owned by Ray Trevelline, has been foreclosed on by Columbiana County. The longtime staple in the community has been around since 1946.

The owner, Greg Vojnovic, explained why the business owes the county $33,584.87 in back taxes.

"Our landlord is a big, publicly traded REIT, and they've got thousands of properties. It looks like somebody didn't file something or pay something," Vojnovic said.

Vojnovic also operates the Jib-Jab Hot Dog Shoppe in Girard and the Hot Dog Shoppe in Warren. Both locations faced penalties due to unpaid taxes dating back to 2023.

However, the Trumbull County treasurer, Agostino Ragozzino, told 21 News that the owners enrolled the business in payment plans to get those restaurants back on track.

Despite the landlord of the Hot Dog Shoppe not sending the bills to the owner, Vojnovic plans to continue having a working relationship with them.

"We've paid all our bills on time, so I've already called the landlord and they're contacting the tax authorities to make the payments," Vojnovic said.

In the meantime, Vojnovic stated all three locations will remain open and he is looking forward to continuing to serve the community.

"We love our customers, and thank you so much for all the support.  You know our teams work really hard. We've got a lot of people that work at these restaurants, and we serve great chili dogs, and want to represent the community as well," Vojnovic said.
