Downtown Youngstown shoe store closes, owner thanks community

The owner of a shoe store in Downtown Youngstown is announcing the closure of his business at 23 West Boardman Street.
On Monday, a 21 News crew member noticed that furniture and merchandise were being removed from the business on Monday, December 13.
Andrew Murphy, owner of Youngstown Kicks, confirmed with 21 News that he had made the difficult decision to close his doors on November 8, 2025.
Murphy says that it wasn't what he wanted, but it was ultimately what had to be done.
At this time, the owner did not wish to disclose the specifics behind the closure.
Murphy thanks the Youngstown community for supporting him when he opened the location and for their continued support in the years that Youngstown Kicks has been in operation.
Murphy told 21 News that he plans to come back bigger and better in the future, with a possible refreshed business idea to serve the Youngstown area.
A sign hung in the front window of Youngstown Kicks indicated that the business opened two years ago in 2023.
