Cub Scout Pack 16 in Columbiana was traveling through the streets on Monday, December 15, 2025, to share the glow of the International Peace Light.

"We brought it here in 2017, but we did not realize the impact that it would have on the community," said Linda Linebaugh, the Chair of the Cub Scout Committee.

According to a release outlining the event, the Peace Light is a small flame that originates from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, shared worldwide as a symbol of peace, hope and goodwill.

"To find so much joy in the Peace Light, and being able to spread it to others, which is what makes me the happiest, is the fact that I get to share such a huge piece of history and a flame like that, and to spread the word of joy, peace, happiness and love," said Linebaugh.

Cub Scout Pack members were originally planning to walk door to door from the Grace Church, located at 140 South Main Street in Columbiana, but the cold weather changed the group's plans.

Instead, members stopped by Birdfish Brewing Company to celebrate with a party, featuring carols, snacks and other festivities.

Linebaugh told 21 News that Cub Scout Pack 16 received the Peace Light during the 2025 celebration from another scout leader in Warren.
