GIRARD, Ohio - The victim in the case against Shane Genetta took the stand detailing the alleged sexual abuse she endured for years.

The victim said she confided in a parent because she was “tired of living through everything she was going through.”

The now 16-year-old said the abuse had been happening for ten years. She alleged Genetta raped her and used objects on her during sexual acts. Prosecutors told the jury Genetta was the coach of her sporting teams. Genetta previously coached youth sports in Girard.

“[The victim] will tell you she did not want these acts to happen, he forced this on her,” the prosecutors said

Genetta is facing 19 charges including rape and sexually oriented material involving a minor.

Prosecutors said photos were found in Genetta’s phone when it was taken by police of the victim without any clothes on and a video of one of the alleged rape incidents.

Genetta's attorney told jurors they don't have to like him but said disliking his character isn't a crime.

"Boundaries that should've been firm were blurred…you are absolutely allowed to think he was foolish, irresponsible, embarrassing but none of those things are crimes,” Genetta’s attorney said.

Prosecutors plan to call police and investigators to the witness stand. They also plan to show jurors the full video of Genetta's interview after his arrest and several videos of the alleged incidents found on his phone.

The trial will resume on Wednesday.
