The wait is over… the mildest air of the month is finally here!

After the coldest first half of December since 1958, and a low temperature of 5° being recorded on Tuesday morning, temperatures have swung above average.
We’re tracking a narrow band of showers moving across the Great Lakes this morning, which may give us a couple of passing showers. Regardless of precipitation, the cold front associated with the showers will keep our temperatures rather steady throughout the day today. High temperatures area-wide will peak in the mid-40s, while a mostly to fully clear sky will drop them down to around 30°.

Conditions will be even milder tomorrow, as persistent south winds will allow high temperatures to peak in the low 50s. Mostly sunny skies to start will become mostly cloudy as rain approaches from the west.

We will start the night off with a few light showers, though some steady rain will start to work into our area later on. Later on overnight, a cold front will move through, dropping temperatures quickly towards freezing. We could deal with a wet snowflake or two before the main bulk of precipitation moves out.

We will still feel the lingering effects of the cold front by Friday. The day's high temperature will come in the morning, and temperatures will dive through the 20s throughout the day. Winds will be howling out of the west, with gusts in some places as high as 40 mph. Lake effect snow is possible for those north of Youngstown, while flurries are also likely for all in the morning. We will bottom them out around 20° overnight.

After Friday, things will get calmer. Our area will stay partly to mostly cloudy during the day on Saturday, with highs in the low 40s. A similar story exists on Sunday, with highs in the mid-30s.

The week will start rather cloudy and cool, with highs in the mid-30s. A rain shower or two is possible in the lead-up to Christmas Eve and Christmas.
