Warren police seek help identifying suspect in attempted hospital arson
The Warren Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a woman suspected of attempting to set a fire at a local hospital last week.
According to an incident report, officers responded to the Trumbull Regional Medical Center at 1350 E. Market St. on Friday morning after a facilities director discovered evidence of a possible arson.
Officers found an open red gas can, a bottle of lighter fluid, a lighter, a kitchen rag, and a gas can nozzle near an entrance doorway that showed burn residue. Officers also noted that feces had been smeared on the same door.
The incident is estimated to have occurred between 5 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 12.
On Wednesday, the department posted two surveillance images to its Facebook page taken from a Sunoco gas station at 1290 E. Market St. Investigators believe the person pictured purchased a gas can and gasoline at the station before attempting the arson at the nearby medical center.
One surveillance photo shows a woman with long, light-colored hair wearing a tan or light-colored hooded winter coat with fur trim, blue jeans, and tan boots as she walks through a parking lot next to a black Chevrolet SUV.
The second image captures the same woman inside the store carrying a brown bag while walking past refrigerated coolers.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the person in the photos is asked to call the Warren Police Department Anonymous Tip Line at 330-841-2914.
