Powerball jackpot reaches $1.5 billion for Saturday drawing

The Powerball jackpot grew to an estimated $1.5 billion after no players matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing.
The upcoming drawing, scheduled for Saturday, now ranks as the seventh largest in U.S. lottery history. The winning numbers from Wednesday were 25, 33, 53, 62, 66, and the red Powerball 17.
If a player wins on Saturday, they can choose between an annuity worth $1.5 billion paid over 30 years or a single cash payment of $686.5 million. Both amounts are calculated before taxes.
While the top prize remained unclaimed, eight tickets across the country won at least $1 million. Six tickets sold in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee matched all five white balls to win $1 million each. Two additional tickets sold in Arizona and Massachusetts won $2 million because those players purchased the "Power Play" option.
The current jackpot run has lasted 45 drawings, setting a record for the longest cycle in the game's history. This is also the second time Powerball has seen two consecutive jackpots exceed $1 billion. The last grand prize was shared by winners in Missouri and Texas in September.
The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and can be seen on 21 News at 11.
