YOUNGSTOWN - This year, the Youngstown Peace Race held its largest race in over two decades. Race organizers chose to celebrate the occasion by donating a total of $10,000 to over a dozen organizations across the Mahoning Valley.

Youngstown Peace Race Board member Joe Vanek tells 21 News each year, the board chooses several different organizations to donate proceeds from the race to. 

This year, the board voted to donate a total of $10,000 across 14 different organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley. A complete list of those organizations can be found below.

- Second Harvest Food Bank

- Friends of Fido

- Project Making Kids Count

- Akron Children's Hospital

- The YMCA of Youngstown

- The St. Vincent de Paul Society

- The Melina Edenfield Foundation

- Cadence Care

- Gleaners Food Bank

- Fairhaven Schools

- Broadway Recovery Services

- Moab House

The Youngstown Peace Race is now in its 51st year and organizers are now getting ready for the 52nd year in 2026. The 2026 race will take place on October 18. Registration for the 2026 race is open now.

The 2026 race will be an 11k race instead of the usual 10k due to construction work that will be taking place in Mill Creek Park.
