Weather whiplash from Thursday to Friday
We trade in cold air for a mild but windy day on Thursday, with active weather on the horizon.
Thursday's temperatures will remain in the low 50s later today and continue until early Friday morning as the cold front passes. Winds will gust up to 30 mph during the daylight hours on Thursday and could pick up to 45 mph overnight.
Showers will begin to work in after midnight, but stay scattered until closer to midnight. A line of steady rain will work in around and just after midnight.
After that burst of gusty rain works through the area, expect temperatures to begin to free-fall and a transition to rain and snow showers to occur.
Temperatures around daybreak will be in the low 30s and then fall from there; air temperatures will range from the 30s to 20s all day with wind chill values in the teens. Light snow showers and flurries will be most widespread in the morning, but then gradually taper to the north and northeast throughout the second half of the day.
Saturday will be breezy, but won't be as cold as temperatures start in the upper teens and make it to the low 50s. Temperatures could fall out of the low 30s Sunday morning, and winds could pick up throughout the day.
Next week is trending generally quiet. A rain or snow shower will be possible on Tuesday, with showers possible on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Temperatures are trending in the low 30s Monday to the low 40s Tuesday through Thursday.
