Raymond John Wean Foundation approves $376K to Valley organizations

The Raymond John Wean Foundation announced in a news release on Thursday, December 18, that $376,000 has been approved to go towards three organizations to help support economic opportunity in the Mahoning Valley.
The three organizations that will be receiving a portion of the money include:
- gener8tor Management LLC
- Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio
- Thrive Mahoning Valley
"2025 was a particularly challenging year for Mahoning Valley nonprofits, amid policy shifts, funding cuts and increased uncertainty," said Wean Foundation President Jennifer Roller.
Roller continued," These grants will ensure the continuation of vital services and support to our region's marginalized and vulnerable residents, creating a path to economic stability and upward mobility."
According to the release, gener8tor Management LLC plans to use the money to support up to 19 individuals in its "Skills Accelerator Program."
The company is an accelerator focused on creating jobs and wealth by connecting people to skills training and other workforce development opportunities.
The "Skills Accelerator Program" focuses on project management skills and office professional training, with the option to pursue a project management professional certification.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio plans to use its portion of the grant money for general operating support amid Medicaid funding disruptions.
According to the release, the support would offset the immediate revenue shortfalls that would limit health care for the roughly 3,300 patients within the Mahoning Valley.
Thrive Mahoning Valley is intended to use the money in support of full-time leadership positions in order to "drive its strategic priorities."
According to the release, Thrive Mahoning Valley aims to connect residents of all racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds to economic, social and educational opportunities.
Several grants are available on the Wean Foundation website to apply for.
Applications for the "Community Investment Grants" are accepted year-round, with a quarterly board review.
Furthermore, "Resident Engagement Grant" applications will be accepted annually in the spring.
