Some residents living near Lake Newport in Mill Creek Park called the 21 Newsroom after hearing loud noises, and sounds of trees coming down. 

Mill Creek MetroParks officials say gas line easement work is being done in the area of Midlothian Boulevard and Glenwood Avenue, east of Lake Newport, and Glenmere Drive, west of the lake.

Community Engagement Director for Mill Creek Metropark Jamie Yohman says Davey Tree was contracted to do the work. 

This, all right before a major sewer project that will replace close to 9,000 feet of century old sewer lines discharging untreated wastewater directly into rivers and streams.
