Powerball jackpot reaches $1.6 billion, fifth largest in history

The Powerball jackpot has increased to an estimated $1.6 billion for the next drawing on Monday night, making it the fifth-largest jackpot in lottery history.
No ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing, which were white balls 4, 5, 28, 52, 69, and red Powerball 20. Because there was no grand prize winner, the jackpot continues to grow.
Monday's prize now ranks as the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history. It also stands as the fifth-largest prize ever offered among all U.S. lottery games.
| Rank | Jackpot Amount | Game | Date |
| 1 | $2.04 Billion | Powerball | Nov. 7, 2022 |
| 2 | $1.787 Billion | Powerball | Sept. 6, 2025 |
| 3 | $1.765 Billion | Powerball | Oct. 11, 2023 |
| 4 | $1.602 Billion | Mega Millions | Aug. 8, 2023 |
| 5 | $1.60 Billion (est.) | Powerball | Dec. 22, 2025 |
This is the 46th drawing in the current jackpot cycle, setting a record for the most consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner. It also marks only the second time the game has seen back-to-back jackpots top the $1 billion mark.
While no one won the jackpot on Saturday, several players still won large cash prizes. Eight tickets across the country matched all five white balls to win $1 million. One of those winning tickets was sold in Ohio.
The next drawing will take place on Monday, Dec. 22, at 10:59 p.m. Viewers can watch the drawing live on 21 News at 11 p.m.
If a player wins on Monday, they can choose between an immediate cash payment of approximately $735.3 million or 30 payments over 29 years totaling $1.6 billion. Both options are before taxes.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
