Southern Local's Kellogg breaking records as freshman
Southern Local freshman basketball standout Katie Kellogg is off to a great start in her high school career.
She's averaging over 25 points a game, 9.8 rebounds, 9 steals and 7.7 assists.
She's helped the Lady Indians to a 12-0 start to the season.
"I just really thank my teammates for always having my back," said Kellogg.
In her first year, Kellogg has posted a rare quadruple double -- 31 points, 15 rebounds, 17 steals and 13 assists.
"I think it was insane," said Kellog. "I didn't even think I had that many to be honest."
"She loves to win and she's a competitor," said Mike Skrinjar, Southern Local head coach. "When she gets out there, she gets into that flow state, in the zone, do whatever it takes to win mentality and that's just a gritty mindset."
Kellogg has posted a career-high 43 points and set the single-game steals record at Southern Local with 17 and the single-game assists record with 13.
She tied the single-game three pointers made record with eight.
"I've been playing basketball since I was in third grade and I played travel ball too, so I mean to be able to start on the varsity level and play that kind of basketball feels good," said Kellogg.
The Indians host United Local on January 5 and look to improve to 13-0.
