A fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Quaker City Castings in Salem.

Salem Fire Chief Scott Mason told 21 News crews arrived on scene around 9:30 p.m. and saw fire going through the roof. Chief Mason said the fire continued to get worse until firefighters got a substantial supply of water set up to put out the fire.

"We didn't have enough water at first to do both [outside and inside], so we relied on our ladder truck and a couple small handlines in the beginning until we had enough water set up and we had an adequate water supply," Mason said.

Chief Mason added that multiple gas lines were leaking, and firefighters could not go inside until gas was turned off.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Chief Mason said no one was injured and there were no operations going on in the building at the time of the fire.

Fire departments from Salem, Perry Township, Damascus, Greenford and Winona responded to East Euclid Street Avenue.
