LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - Liberty Township police are investigating a hit-and-run that left a woman with numerous broken bones on Christmas Eve, according to the victim's family.

It was around 5:20 p.m. on Christmas Eve on Churchill Hubbard Road when officers were called after a Good Samaritan reported a woman lying along the side of the road, according to the incident report.

The victim, identified as Ruth Raver of Liberty, told them she was crossing the street to go to church when she was struck by a vehicle, and the driver did not remain at the scene.

"The person who hit her left her on the side of the road and pulled off," Raver's niece, Annette Houser, said.

Houser said the incident has been traumatic for her aunt, who is dealing with multiple injuries and devastating for their family.

"Her leg is broken, her ankle, her foot, a couple of toes," Houser said, "They need to go in and reconstruct and put pins in and rods, but they can't do any of that because of the intense swelling."

She said what hurts just as much is that this all happened on Christmas Eve.

"It just boggles my mind that somebody can just do that and leave, especially around the holidays, like, did they go home and celebrate the holidays with their family? like nothing was nothing?" she said, "We want accountability."

Liberty Township police said the case remains under investigation, and they are still working to identify the driver involved.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
