Puerto Rican restaurant set to open third location in the Mahoning Valley

A restaurant is expanding its footprint across the Mahoning Valley and will soon be a part of the Boardman community beginning in 2026.
According to a Facebook post announcing the news, Red Rican will be opening its third location in 2026, with a site listed at 270 Boardman Canfield Road.
One of the three co-owners of the business, Carmelo Morales, told 21 News that the business is looking towards a February opening date.
Morales continued, stating that the high demand they've seen from the community pushed them to open more restaurants and continues to see room for growth.
"We're not done yet. Boardman is just another stepping stone," said Morales about the last two years of building the business.
Red Rican began with three brothers aiming to blend traditional flavors of Puerto Rican food with a modern twist, according to the restaurant's website.
Featured favorites on their menu include pastelillos, mofongo, sandwiches, rice bowls and tres leches cakes, for example.
Prior to Red Rican opening its first physical location in Niles, found at 41 Vienna Avenue, in January 2025, the restaurant operated out of a food truck that traveled to various events throughout the Mahoning Valley.
A second Red Rican store can also be found in Campbell at 196 McCartney Road in the 422 Plaza, which opened just five months later in June.
