Ohio man finds winning lottery ticket in wallet three months after drawing

COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio man discovered a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 in his wallet this week, three months after the drawing took place.
A resident of Powhatan Point, identified by the lottery commission as John, purchased the ticket at Tom’s Carry Out on Sept. 23 for the following night's drawing. He placed the ticket in his wallet and forgot about it until he went back to the same store at 329 State Route 7 North to buy ice.
While at the store, he asked a clerk to scan the ticket he bought in September. The scan revealed he had won a $50,000 prize.
The winning numbers for the Sept. 24 drawing were 15, 45, 49, 50, and 53. The Powerball number was 19. John matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball.
The ticket also featured a 3X Power Play. Although the Power Play can multiply smaller prizes, the prize for matching four white balls and the Powerball is a fixed amount.
